In the mattress world, buying a mattress and sifting through the differences can be difficult to the average consumer; You really only buy one every 10 years. now imagine a place or website where you can go and see three mattresses “good, better, best” with all the reviews necessary to know the product and services are legit… Unfortunately, Toronto is only home to one of those places and if you’re reading the article you’re in the right place. Many stores and websites who claim they have the best mattress will pepper their descriptions and claims with “mattress jargon” some of the worst jargon of any industry. With proprietary foam, and gel foam, and memory foam, and latex foam, and air foam, and polyfoam, and high/low density all of the above, and “X” number of coils, with limited, and unlimited warranties, and 70% off super sales, it makes it near impossible to make the right decision. If you take a look at our mattresses you will find only ingredients you’ve heard of before, and that’s a good thing. Because if a company is changing the name of there foam because they added food colouring to it, to make it purple, or blue, or grey; they can probably convince a naive audience to pay more for it.
Many people don’t understand just how prevalent jargon is in the world today. Jargon effects us every day of our lives, so much so that to understand finance we hire accountants, to defend ourselves legally we hire lawyers, to buy cars we leverage sales associates (and we know how that can end up). Don’t over complicate sleep, it’s easier than you think. If a company has a new proprietary foam that’s exclusive to them, chances are the only reason it’s exclusive is that of the colour. Our #1 take away from this article if we haven’t lost you yet, try new brands… But don’t buy a mattress with mystery ingredients you haven’t heard of before.
