The essential is best described as medium firm.
This mattress is foam based and will not transfer any motion.
We use two different polyurethane based foam layers. We a 6″ high-density core foam for support and durability, and 2″ of high-density comfort foam on top for contour and pressure relief.
The Essential is a foam based mattress made from 3 different layers.
As a new company we have had a lot of growth over the past 2 years and new things have become available with the volume we are able to do. We felt at the beginning that since the volume wasn’t there it was best to remain simple but as time goes on new doors open and we now feel like we can support a high quality mattress among our ranks.
The Richmond is the most medium of our mattresses; not quite as soft as the Summerhill and not quite as firm as the Davisville.
The Top layer of open cell gel foam will reduce pressure and keep you cool.
The layer of latex underneath will add support and durability, while helping to keep the temperature of the mattress surface low.
The transition layer will buffer the soft layers on top from the firm coils below. This will be the firmest of the foam layers.
The Magnificent Middle base will help to align your body, retain zero heat, re enforce the center of the mattress, and reduce motion transfer greatly.
The three main benefits to this foam are as follows.
Latex is unique to foam because it is actually more similar to rubber; when used close to the surface of the mattress is can feel a bit firm but when used underneath other foams it increases the overall durability of the weakest part of the mattress.
Our latex is also aerated which will allow direct airflow into the hollow pocket coils below to help regulate the mattresses temperature greatly.
The Richmond is considered our best because it uses both Talalay latex, and open cell-gel memory foam – both premium in terms of health, comfort, and durability.
This mattress also uses the Magnificent Middle base which will help target certain areas of the mattress to improve durability and lower back support.
The Richmond is a hybrid broken down into two main portions the supportive pocket coil layer below and the pressure relieving comfort layers above.

Our comfort guarantee only applies to our mattresses.
We know that sometimes you need to sleep on the mattress before you know whether it is a perfect fit for you. That is why you have a 125 nights (counting from the day you received the mattress) window during which you can elect to have your “uncomfortable mattress” remade to your specifications. The re-delivery and pick-up are free of charge, the only thing you will be asked to pay for is a difference in materials if it is merited, however if you decide to go with a different model all together you will either be refunded or prompted to pay the difference.
Our delivery service is free on The Davisville, Summerhill, and Richmond models. Other items ordered separately from an order placed without one of the “good, better, best” mattresses may have an additional delivery fee.
Dozy will set up your mattress and box spring but we do not set up your frame. Frames take 5-15 minutes to set up with no necessary tools required, you can call us during operating hours if you need any assistance with this.
We deliver on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 5-9 pm, and Saturday from 12-5 pm. If these times do not work for you, accommodations can possibly be made.
Once your order is placed a representative will either call or email you to confirm a date and time that works best for you. You can always reach out to us to make sure we have availabilities at a certain date and time.
Dozy takes approximately 2-6 days to reach your house from the point of purchase.
The foundation does not need to be assembled and can be fully handled by our delivery team.
The King box comes in 2 pieces. The Queen box comes in 1 piece by default, but can be ordered in 2 pieces, should you so choose (extra charge applies).
The Dozy foundation is made in the same factory that our mattresses are made in, in North York, ON.
The foundation is made from Canadian sourced spruce wood.
Unfortunately the foundation is our only item that cannot be purchased on its own.
The mattress does not have a built in foundation, so you would need to get our foundation, or one of your own, as long as it’s the correct size.
The extra bolts are the so you can attach a headboard at a later date, we recommend (unofficially) putting them back in the plastic bag and taping them to the underside of the frame, they could come in handy.
The only tool you will need is a wrench. An allen key is included with the frame.
Our frame has legs.
Our frame is made from steel.
The Davisville is the only mattress from our line that works on the adjustable base.
Adjustable beds can improve heartburn or acid reflux, if you sleep on a setting with a slight incline. Adjustable beds can also relieve snoring and asthma in the same slight incline position.
Adjustable beds are great if you like to watch tv or use your laptop in bed. Whereas propping yourself up with pillows can squish and strain your neck, the adjustable bed will keep you upper body comfortable and upright.
Unlike our mattresses that are all Canadian made, the adjustable bed that we carry was designed in the USA, and made in China.
Much of the price is due to the high cost of the motor.
There is less gel in the Osgoode because the mattress is not a foam based mattress. The Pocketed-coil base allows for a place for the air to freely flow and relieve your body from excess heat. Even though this model has less gel than The Summerhill, it actually keeps itself much cooler.
The Osgoode is comprised of three main layers. The first layer is 1 inch of gel-infused memory foam. The second – 3 inches of high density adaptive poly foam. Supporting all of that are 1100 individual pocket coils.
The Osgoode is a medium level mattress – not too firm, not too soft; firmer than The Davisville, softer than The Summerhill.
While we could double or triple our coil count, after a certain point more coils does not mean better quality. A mattress is finite in its size, and after reaching the threshold of 950 – 1200 coils, you can’t fit any more coils into the mattress. So when you’re seeing mattresses with astronomical numbers like “5000 coils” – the manufacturer just made all the coils smaller, in order to claim to have more coils for marketing purposes.
The biggest benefit is a great cost vs longevity ratio. Sure, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of our higher end models, but the quality is top notch, and the actual lifetime of this mattress can rival that of $1000+ units.
The Summerhill uses 1100 pocket coils, with a reinforced zone running horizontally through the mattress. This helps support the heaviest part of your body and keep everything properly aligned.
This is simply because around 70% of people actually end up finding innerspring mattresses to suit their needs and preferences better, it is true that foam mattresses do have high satisfaction ratings from owners, but more people do prefer the pushback and liveliness that a coil mattress gives. On top of this, The Summerhill is our top seller (we choose our best seller from in-store purchases after our clients have laid on all mattresses).
The Osgoode is a continuous coil mattress, utilizing connected coils to give more durability while requiring less coils.
The Summerhill is the most neutral firmness, not too firm or soft. The Upper foam layer comforts you with soft pressure relief, while the pocket coils below provide firm support and durability.
Foam mattresses transfer the least amount of motion compared to any other type of mattress. Also with a foam core instead of a coil base, offers more pressure relief. Finally, if you are trying to squeeze a mattress into the basement or up a narrow and winding stair case – foam bends every which way possible.
The Summerhill is comprised of three main layers. The first layer is 2 inches of gel-infused memory foam. The second – 2 inches of high-density adaptive poly foam. Supporting all of that are 1100 individual pocket coils.
The Davisville utilizes a foam core which does not transfer motion.
The Davisville’s top layer consists of 2 inches of gel-infused memory foam. This layer provides pressure relief and significantly reduces heat retention.
This is a hybrid mattress that uses individually-wrapped pocket coils and a large pillow top with gel memory foam. This type of mattress provides optimal support with the help of its pocket coil system, while still offering little to no motion transfer.
Hybrid mattresses offer more pressure relief than a typical mattress. It also utilizes higher quality foams instead of just comfort layers. It is almost like having a foam mattress on a pocket coil base. You still feel the response from pocket coils, but in a more subtle way. This type of mattress also has the ability to contour to your body the best and keep your spine in proper alignment. The pocket coils transfer motion marginally over a full foam mattress.
While the Davisville is considered to be our firmest model, it is not overly firm. The mattress will provide great support but it will still have the memory foam feel you know and love in the top layers.
This model will tranfer motion more so than The Davisville and The Summerhill. However, The Osgoode’s channelized quilting and foam top do mute motion transfer up to a point.
We use a 2 inch layer of high density poly foam to give long lasting comfort and pressure relief.
From the top down we have 2 inches of gel memory foam to keep you cool and relieved. Then, there is a 3 inch transition layer which adapts to your bodyweight to give you the optimal firmness. Finally, there is a 5 inch poly foam core which helps with spinal alignment, motion dampening, and durability.
The height of the mattresses are Essential: 8 inches, Davisville: 10 inches, Summerhill: 13”, Richmond 14″
For the length and width of our mattresses we use the standard North American sizes (approx):
Single: 75×38
Single XL: 80×38
Double: 75×53
Queen: 80×59
King: 80×76
California King: 84×71
It is unlikely that you will see any significant body indentation within the 10 year period that is covered by warranty. If you do, any indentation over 1.5” is covered.
Your Dozy is protected by a 10 year warranty, however your mattress could and should exceed that mark. You can read more about the warranty HERE.
Compressing mattresses takes away from their durability. Additionally, it takes several days for a mattress to fully decompress. Since we deliver within Toronto and the GTA, there’s no need for us to compress mattresses, and we certainly don’t want to degrade the quality of your mattress by compressing it.
All Dozy mattresses have been designed with temperature control in mind. We use a non-traditional channel quilt. Normally, when you see a memory foam mattress, they have a flat quilt which does not help in dissipating body heat. As for traditional innerspring mattresses, many of them come with high lofts and deep tufts which can cause the heat to get trapped. Dozy has gone with a flatter but channelized quilting to regulate temperature. Also, our “Better” & “Best” models have gel infused memory foam which helps reduce heat retention.
We believe that a customer should not have to waste time when it comes to picking a mattress. You can actually tell a lot about a mattress just from trying it in-store. You will be able to get a good feel for what works and what doesn’t work for you and find a model that’s just right.
Foam, coils, and quilts that are manufactured in Canada are of superior quality.
Supporting fellow Canadian businesses makes for a better economy, and a prosperous country.
Yes we do, through PayBright, Canada’s largest E-commerce finance provider.
Not all mattresses are made equally. Comfort is subjective, so, on a rare occasion, people do actually find that that our “good” mattress is comfier than our “best” mattress. This is why we rate our mattresses not based on comfort, but rather based on factors like the number of coils, density of foam, types of foam, etc.
Everyone has different needs and preferences. Our Good, Better, Best models provide customers with 3 different choices in regard to comfort and price. With 3 models to choose from, our clients’ mattress shopping experience is smooth and time efficient – the average customer picks their mattress in less than 20 minutes. We’ve seen the nightmare that is the traditional big box mattress store where people spend half their day off trying to make sense of the differences between 50 different mattress models, while being accosted by pushy sleek-talking salesmen. With Dozy that nightmare is over. We are in the business of sweet dreams. Sweet dreams and great customer service.
We do have a showroom, conveniently located at 101 Spadina Avenue, unit 213 to let you try before you buy. See our CONTACT page for opening hours and directions.
Honesty. Quality. Excellent customer service. Great Prices.
Dozy is a local, Toronto based company. All our mattresses are manufactured in North York, and are 100% made in Canada. We serve clients all across Toronto and the GTA. Unlike our competitors, none of our mattresses are compressed.
