Pick your fill

Mulberry Silk, Bamboo or Alpaca Wool: which is right for you?

Same light, quilt-like build and the same price for all three. The fill decides how it sleeps: silk is the lightest and coolest to the touch, alpaca is the driest, and bamboo is the warmest, with no animal fill.

Our coolest duvet

Mulberry Silk

about 4 TOG · 34 oz (Queen)

Long strands of mulberry silk laid in thin layers. The lightest of the three and the coolest to the touch: it drapes close to your body and is naturally hypoallergenic.

Best for: Very hot sleepers, warm rooms and summer

Keep in mind: The least warm of the three, and not as dry as alpaca if you sweat a lot at night.

Bamboo

about 7.5 TOG · 54 oz (Queen)

Soft, smooth rayon made from bamboo. Cool to the touch and the warmest of the three. A good pick if you want no animal fill.

Best for: Warm sleepers who want no animal fill

Keep in mind: The warmest of the three, and not as dry as alpaca or as light as silk.

Choose Bamboo
Best for night sweats

Alpaca Wool

about 7 TOG · 59 oz (Queen)

Alpaca fibres pull sweat away from your skin better than silk or bamboo, so it's the driest of the three. More warmth than silk, so it suits more of the year. Alpaca has no lanolin, the natural wax in sheep's wool.

Best for: Night sweats, and warm sleepers who want one duvet for more of the year

Keep in mind: The heaviest of the three, and an animal fibre.

Why it works

What makes the Ultra Lite Duvet different

Built for hot sleepers

A thin, airy layer instead of a thick puffy fill, so heat escapes instead of building up under the covers.

Wicks moisture away

Silk, alpaca and bamboo move sweat away from your skin, so you wake up dry instead of clammy. Alpaca is the driest of the three.

A light, close drape

It drapes over you like a quilt, without the bulk of a traditional duvet.

Three fills, one price

Choose mulberry silk, alpaca wool or rayon from bamboo. Every fill is the same price, in every size.

How to read our numbers

Warmth, breathability and TOG: what's the difference?

Every Dozy duvet gets two simple bars, warmth and breathability, plus an estimated TOG. They answer three different questions.

The bar: Light to Warm

Warmth

How much heat the duvet holds around you, scored 1 to 10 across our duvets. It comes down to the type of fill and how much of it there is. Pick more warmth if you run cold or keep your bedroom cool.

Warmth isn't weight. Down gives the most warmth for its weight, so our warmest duvet, the Winter Down Duvet, weighs less than our Down & Feather or Down Alternative.

The bar: Sweaty to Dry

Breathability

How well the duvet lets heat and body moisture escape, scored 1 to 10. Silk, wool and down move moisture away from your skin. Synthetic fill holds onto it, which is what leaves you damp and clammy.

Breathability isn't the opposite of warmth. A duvet can be warm and breathable at the same time, which is why down sleeps so well.

The lab number

TOG

TOG (thermal overall grade) is the European and UK standard for how well a duvet holds in heat, measured in a lab. The higher the number, the warmer the duvet.

TOG only measures heat. It says nothing about moisture or how a duvet feels, so two duvets with the same TOG can sleep very differently. Ours are estimates from each duvet's fill and fill weight.

The short version

Pick with the two bars. Run hot or wake up sweaty? Look for Dry first, then less warmth. Run cold? Look for Warm. TOG is there if you want to compare us with European brands.

Warmth is how much heat a duvet holds in. Breathability is how well it lets heat and moisture escape. Both are Dozy's own 1 to 10 scores, compared across our duvets. TOG values are our estimates for a Queen, based on each duvet's fill weight, to help compare with European brands.

Quality and care

What the labels mean, and how to care for it

Certified

Downmark® and OEKO-TEX®

Our down and feather duvets are Downmark® certified by the Down Association of Canada: fill is lab tested to match its label, and its sourcing rules ban live-plucking and force-feeding. Every Dozy duvet is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, tested for harmful substances.

Care

Professional cleaning only

Keep your duvet in a duvet cover, air it out often and spot clean small marks with a little mild soap and water.

When it needs a full clean, take it to a professional cleaner and tell them what the fill is. Washing or tumble drying a duvet at home can damage the fill.

Ultra Lite Duvet questions, answered

Which Ultra Lite fill is the coolest?

Mulberry silk feels the coolest and is the lightest, about 4 TOG for a Queen. Alpaca and bamboo hold a little more heat, at about 7 to 7.5 TOG.

Which fill is best for night sweats?

Alpaca. Wool fibres hold more moisture than silk or bamboo before they feel damp, so alpaca keeps you the driest. Silk feels cooler at first touch, but alpaca handles sweat better.

Silk, bamboo or alpaca: which should I pick?

Pick silk if you run very hot and want the lightest, coolest feel. Pick alpaca if you get night sweats or want one duvet for more of the year. Pick bamboo if you want no animal fill and a little more warmth.

Is the Ultra Lite warm enough for winter?

On its own it suits warm sleepers and warm rooms. If your bedroom is cool in winter, add a blanket on top, or choose the Down Duvet for the cold months.

Is the Ultra Lite a duvet or a quilt?

It's a duvet insert that goes inside a duvet cover, but it's thin and light like a quilt. That's what makes it so breathable.

What is the Ultra Lite's shell made of?

The silk and alpaca fills come in a 300 thread count, 100% combed cotton sateen shell. The bamboo fill comes in a 300 thread count sateen made from rayon from bamboo. Pick a fill above to see its shell.

How do I clean my duvet?

Professional cleaning only. Keep your duvet in a duvet cover, air it out often and spot clean small marks with a little mild soap and water. When it needs a full clean, take it to a professional cleaner and tell them what the fill is. Washing or tumble drying a duvet at home can damage the fill.

Do I need a duvet cover?

Yes. A cover protects the duvet from sweat, oils and spills, and because duvets need professional cleaning, a cover you can toss in the wash keeps it fresh for much longer. We carry duvet covers in cotton sateen and flax linen.

What size should I get?

Match your duvet to your mattress: Twin/Single, Double/Full, Queen or King. If you want more overhang on the sides, or share the bed with someone who steals the covers, size up one, for example a King duvet on a Queen bed.

What is a TOG rating?

TOG is a European lab measure of how well a duvet holds in heat. Higher is warmer. Roughly, 3 to 4.5 TOG is summer weight, 7 to 10.5 is all-season and 12 and up is winter weight. Canadian brands rarely list TOG, so we estimate one for each Dozy duvet from its fill and fill weight. TOG only measures heat, so we also score every duvet for breathability.

Do you put duvets on sale?

No. Our prices stay the same every day. The one deal we offer: 20% off duvets, pillows and sheets when you buy them with a mattress, applied automatically in your cart.
