The bar: Light to Warm
Warmth
How much heat a duvet holds in, scored 1 to 10 across our duvets. Fill type and fill weight decide it. Run cold or keep a cool bedroom? Choose more warmth.
Warmth isn't weight. Our warmest duvet, the Winter Down Duvet, is lighter than our Down & Feather or Down Alternative.
The bar: Sweaty to Dry
Breathability
How well heat and moisture escape, scored 1 to 10. Silk, wool and down pull moisture away from your skin. Synthetic fill holds onto it and leaves you clammy.
Warm and breathable can go together. That's why down sleeps so well.
The lab number
TOG
The European and UK lab standard for how well a duvet holds in heat. Higher is warmer.
TOG measures heat only, not moisture or feel. Two duvets with the same TOG can sleep very differently. Ours are estimates from each fill and fill weight.

Our down and feather duvets are Downmark® certified by the Down Association of Canada: fill is lab tested to match its label, and its sourcing rules ban live-plucking and force-feeding. Every Dozy duvet is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, tested for harmful substances.

Keep your duvet in a duvet cover, air it out often and spot clean small marks with a little mild soap and water.
When it needs a full clean, take it to a professional cleaner and tell them what the fill is. Washing or tumble drying a duvet at home can damage the fill.

What is the Down Alternative Duvet filled with?
A soft, silk-like microfibre made to feel like down, in a 233 thread count polyester shell. There's no down or feather inside. It's OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
Is it good if I'm allergic to down?
Yes. There's no down or feather in it, so it's the duvet we suggest if those set off your allergies. If you'd prefer a plant-based fill, The Ultra Lite Duvet in bamboo is another option.
How warm is the Down Alternative Duvet?
Medium warmth, about 7 TOG for a Queen. Warm enough for most of the year in a heated Toronto home.
Does a synthetic duvet sleep hot?
It can feel warmer and damper than a natural fill. Synthetic fibre holds onto body moisture, which is why we score it 4 out of 10 for breathability. If you run hot, look at The Ultra Lite Duvet.
How do I clean my duvet?
Professional cleaning only. Keep your duvet in a duvet cover, air it out often and spot clean small marks with a little mild soap and water. When it needs a full clean, take it to a professional cleaner and tell them what the fill is. Washing or tumble drying a duvet at home can damage the fill.
Do I need a duvet cover?
Yes. A cover protects the duvet from sweat, oils and spills, and because duvets need professional cleaning, a cover you can toss in the wash keeps it fresh for much longer. We carry duvet covers in cotton sateen, cotton percale and flax linen.
What size should I get?
Match your duvet to your mattress size: Twin/Single, Double/Full, Queen or King. Want more overhang, or share with someone who steals the covers? Size up (e.g. a King size duvet on a Queen size bed).
What is a TOG rating?
TOG is a European lab measure of how well a duvet holds in heat. Higher is warmer: roughly 3 to 4.5 is summer weight, 7 to 10.5 all-season and 12 and up winter weight. Canadian brands rarely list TOG; ours are estimates from each duvet's fill and fill weight. TOG measures heat only, which is why we also score every duvet for breathability.
