The Right Size for a Condo Bedroom
This is the decision most people make too quickly. Condo bedrooms in Toronto vary more than people expect — a 500 sq ft studio has very different constraints than a 900 sq ft one-bedroom — and the size that fits the room is not always the one that fits the lifestyle.
The general rule: measure your room before you commit to anything. You should have at least 24 inches of clearance on at least one side of the bed to move comfortably, and around 30 inches at the foot. Queen is the most common choice for Toronto condo bedrooms and the right call for most couples. It fits comfortably in a standard one-bedroom layout and moves through most condo buildings without difficulty. A king works well in larger units — just worth a quick check on your hallway dimensions before ordering.
Before you order anything larger than a queen: Measure your bedroom doorway and the hallway from the front door. Mattresses have some give and most deliveries go smoothly, but a king is the one size where tight corners occasionally come into play. A quick measure takes two minutes and saves any day-of surprises.
What to Look for in a Condo Mattress
Motion isolation
In a smaller bedroom, a mattress that transfers motion across the surface is more noticeable than in a larger space. If you share your bed, pocket coil construction isolates motion better than traditional innerspring, and foam layers help further.
