Cushion on top, real support underneath
The Richmond is the Summerhill build with a layer of Talalay latex added on top. Here is what each part does.
Talalay latex comfort
A 1" layer of Talalay latex sits near the top. It's springy and responsive, so it cushions your shoulders and hips without the slow, stuck feeling of memory foam, and its open-cell structure lets air through.
Tri-zone pocket coils
1,100 double-tempered steel pocket coils in three zones, firmer in the middle. Each coil moves on its own, so the bed follows your shape, limits motion transfer and lets air through.
The magnificent middle
A 2.3" bolster of slightly firmer foam sits in the middle of the mattress, under your hips. It supports the heaviest part of your body and stops the middle softening and sagging over time.
Hollofil quilted euro top
The plush, hotel-style top you notice the moment you lie down. Inside, a layer of Hollofil fibre sits between you and the foam: foam holds heat, fibre lets it escape. It's the biggest single thing that makes a mattress sleep cool.

A poly-cotton blend cover, certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, quilted with Hollofil fibre and finished as a euro top. The fibre puts a breathable layer between you and the foam below, so body heat escapes instead of soaking into the foam. Many foam mattresses skip quilting entirely.

Responsive latex that cushions your shoulders and hips and pushes back gently, so you move easily and don't feel stuck. Its open-cell structure lets air move through, and it holds its shape for years.

The magnificent middle 2.3" hip bolster
Slightly firmer foam set into the middle of the comfort layer, under your hips. Your body isn't even, so the support shouldn't be either: it holds up the heaviest part of you and keeps the middle from softening and sagging.

1,100 tri-zone pocket coils Reinforced middle
Double-tempered steel coils, each in its own pocket, so they move on their own and limit motion transfer. The coils are zoned, with a firmer centre zone for your hips and lower back.

A high-density foam frame around the coil unit. It strengthens the edges so you can sit on the side of the bed and sleep right to the edge.

I am ~150lb and the mattress is perfect for me. It provides good support as I come from firmer beds, but has a great amount of top layer cushioning that contours to my hips and shoulders. I have literally never had a mattress this good.

Who is the Richmond best for?
Side sleepers, people who switch positions, and couples. The latex and open-cell foam cushion your shoulders and hips, and the coils underneath keep your spine supported. If you sleep on your back or stomach and like a firmer bed, The Summerhill is a better fit.
Does the Richmond feel like a hotel bed?
That's the feel it's built for. The euro top and Talalay latex give it the plush, cushioned surface you get on a good hotel bed, with 1,100 pocket coils underneath so you sleep on it, not in it. How firm is the Richmond?
It's a 6 out of 10, which is medium. A 1" layer of Talalay latex and 2" of open-cell foam give pressure relief on top, a firmer bolster sits under your hips, and 1,100 tri-zone pocket coils give springy support underneath. You can also choose extra soft (4/10), soft (5/10), firm (7/10) or extra firm (8/10) at no extra cost.
Is the Richmond good for hot sleepers?
Yes. The top is quilted with Hollofil fibre, which keeps a breathable layer between you and the foam, and foam is what holds heat. Talalay latex has an open-cell structure that lets air through, and the pocket coils underneath leave open space for air to move. It rates 8 out of 10 for breathability in our lineup.
How long does the Richmond last?
10 to 14 years with normal care. Rotate it every 3 to 6 months. It comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
What if the Richmond doesn't feel right?
You have 125 nights and up to two exchanges under our Comfort Guarantee. We can swap it for a tailored firmness version of the Richmond for free, exchange it up to another model and you pay the difference, or exchange it down and we refund the difference.
How fast is delivery?

What's the difference between the Richmond and the Summerhill?
The Richmond is built the same way as the Summerhill, with a 1" layer of Talalay latex added on top and a euro top finish. The Richmond is 6/10 medium, 13" tall, more breathable and more durable, and starts at $1,299. The Summerhill is 7/10 medium-firm, 12" tall and starts at $1,099.
What's the difference between the Richmond and the Forest Hill?
Both are latex hybrids. The Forest Hill is our softest and most premium hybrid: 5/10, 14.5" tall, with a cool gel layer in its quilt and a 100% cotton jacquard cover, from $1,899. The Richmond is 6/10 medium, 13" tall, with a poly-cotton cover, from $1,299.
What is Talalay latex?
Latex made by the Talalay process, which gives it a very even, open-cell structure. It feels springy and responsive rather than slow-sinking like memory foam, lets air move through it, and keeps its shape for years. In the Richmond it's the 1" layer near the top.
